What is CDT®?
CDT is a soft handed control/restraint system that is easy to learn, maintain and apply. CDT was designed for real world situations to physically control or disarm a hostile aggressor, and keep him in compliance or completely restrained until help arrives.
CDT was originated in 1992 based on the need for a proven system that focuses strictly on diffusion a physical aggressor. It was specifically made for Law Enforcement and Security personnel but over the years has evolved to address the needs or workplace violence. CDT is now being implemented in hospitals, public and private schools, airlines, night-clubs and religious organizations.
CDT has successfully proven itself in the use of force world with a flawless, proven track record. The key to the CDT System is that it addresses personal well-being and subject safety while decreasing the liability factors of all concerned. By covering these three major aspects it allows for safer control and less risk of potential liability factors. That alone makes it different than any other soft-handed systems in today's proper use of force world.
What does CDT® stand for?
Compliance - To diffuse an aggressive act through soft-handed control or restraint techniques in order to protect the safety and welfare of others.
Direction - Steering or moving an aggressor to a safe place or position in order to protect the safety and welfare of others.
Take Down - A safe, non-vital method used to keep an aggressive subject in a prone position in order to secure and maintain them or if legally allowed to fully restrain them with handcuffs or restraints.
How was CDT® formed?
CDT® was created by a world renown bodyguard (Tom Patire) who taught Defensive Tactics to numerous Municipal, State and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. After hearing all the negative press on how control techniques fail in the field Tom Patire decided to do something about it! His research showed that many techniques currently used where either outdated, to hard to apply or were over aggressive causing the officer, the subject or both to be injured for needlessly. Aftermath of these improper actions/techniques usually end up with civil and/or criminal problems for the officer and/or his department.
What is the secret of CDT®?
CDT is based on mind and body confusion. It utilizes techniques that are based on non-vital body points and have no lasting, harmful effects. CDT has many variations to its system, from clothing restraint techniques all the way to physical restraints. The CDT system is taught in a way that seeks out the lowest level of soft-handed force needed to control an aggressor. So no striking on any kind is necessary at this level of control and restraint. CDT is based on a "Less Is Better" philosophy because by using less force you will have less problems.
CDT® is the leader in "proven soft-handed control/restraint" since 1992.
